CLOSE UP

Excerpt from Glitterfist: Libertine

Midsumma Festival 2018

When a thousand gazes are amplified around you, make your own the most powerful.

Group dance piece with deities Glitterfist, Filth (Six Inches Uncut), and Pleasure (Jessica McKerlie) suiting up for battle. This act playfully explores the tension between wanting the protection of armour and the desire for defiance and freedom. The set transforms into surreal armour against hostile glances, with hand mirrors and bravado as weapons. Each deity lets go and reveals the bizarre beauty of their non-binary bodies.

The beginning of the origin story of Glitterfist, once lost and formless trapped in the ether, pulled into the physical plane by accidental midwives Pleasure (Jessica McKerlie) and Filth (Six Inches Uncut).

Celestial Womb soundscape composed by Toyah Hoetzel.
